Written by Rothbard, this is the title of the last book in the 2021 reading cycle.

On December 6th, the associates participated in the study of the book “What Has Government Done to Our Money?”, written by Murray N. Rothbard. He was the Academic Vice President of the Ludwig von Mises Institute and is an honorary S.J. Hall Distinguished Professor of Economics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Presenters Felipe Saldanha, Leonard Batista and Tiago Rossi highlighted in their speeches from how banks create money, to how exchange and interest rates work in a free market, as well as the history of exchange media and studies of cases of each of them.

Associate II and event leader, Felipe Fernandes, highlighted in his briefing: “(...) when I lose the ability to choose, I end up with the competition, which is the only guarantee we have of incentive to produce something. Or are you going to tell me that painted paper by the state is something that has an incentive or that it has a guarantee or that it creates security? So is money the origin of all evil or is money the result of the human capacity to think, to innovate or to produce?”

These and other questions were brought up by the group, and at the end of the presentation a quiz was released so that whoever got it right would win the book as a gift. Associate I Heitor Fernandes was the winner.

This was the last ordinary event of Instituto Líderes do Amanhã, and we are counting on your participation in following next year's reading cycle!
