Yesterday, March 16, the first Mock Trial of Líderes took place with the theme, "For the sake of greater security, is it desirable for the state to control citizens' microdata? ". The leader of the event was the Associate III, Felipe Fernandes, who also mediated the debate.

For the exposition and discussion of the content, the presentation was made by two opposing groups. Group A was composed by associates Juliana Bravo, Luis Bissoli and Nelson Duarte, who defended that it is desirable that the State controls microdata for the sake of greater security. Group B, on the other hand, was composed of associates Jéssica Prata, Pedro Henrique Zordan, and Rodrigo Bachour, who defended the opposite, that it is not desirable for the State to control microdata.

It is worth pointing out that the premises of each group do not express the personal opinion of the participants, so that the two extremes could be explored, generating greater depth in content and engaging a richer debate.

The event leader brought in his briefing a bit of what the event was about: "It is undeniable that for some time now our microdata have been used by the State. It is also undeniable that we need to reflect, as civil society, on the extent to which the existence of control over this is or is not desirable, especially assuming that the State exists. And if there were a security system that was virtually free of failures, would you agree to live like that? (...) It's a dilemma between security and freedom."

Thus, it can be seen that the theme of the jury propitiated a great debate about the topic. The presenters were well prepared, and the discussions generated many questions to the listeners, so that the dispute to choose the winning group was very tight. Group B (the opposing group) was the winner with 57% of the votes.

And for you, is it desirable that the State controls citizens' microdata for the sake of greater security?
