Yesterday, May 9th, there was a lecture for Leaders associates with the CEO of the Grupo Paranaense de Comunicação (GRPCOM), Guilherme Cunha Pereira. The event was led by Associate II, Lívia Abreu, who mediated the presentation.
Guilherme holds a doctorate and a master's degree from USP's Law School, creator, coordinator, and professor of the master's course in Journalism for Editors to train leaders of communication vehicle newsrooms in Brazil and neighboring countries. He is a lecturer in defense of freedom of expression and author of the following books: "Alienation of Shareholder Control Power" and "Freedom and Responsibility of the Media".
The event leader, Lívia, brought in her briefing an introduction to the lecture: "Based on Cunha Pereira's vast experience, with an extensive background in legal studies related to freedom of speech, and years of leadership at the head of the newspaper, we will debate contemporary issues about the limits of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and the rule of law".
In this way, the speaker presented his vision on the greatest risks to freedom of speech, bringing another side to current discussions little seen. He also told a little about the difficulties he experienced in his own newspaper, and what was done to overcome them.
Guilherme's considerations led to a great reflection from the members, generating a great debate about the presented themes, making the content even more explored.
