Yesterday, August 1st, we started the new month with a lecture about corporate governance and board performance, with the participation of Claudia Pagnano, board member of several companies in Brazil, and Hélio Pepe, current president of the board of the Instituto Líderes do Amanhã. The associate I, Laís Cavalcante, led the event and was responsible for the mediation.
Cláudia is currently a board member at Vitru Education, Vix Logística SA. and Brado Logistica. She is an advisory board member at Security Ltda. and a ProBono board member at the Red Cross of Brazil. In addition, she has been a businesswoman, was one of the founders of Women Corporate Directors (WCD), and has served in prominent positions in large nationally known companies.
Hélio, besides being the current president of the Governance Council of the Instituto Líderes do Amanhã, is a lawyer, partner of SGMP+ Advogados, one of our supporting companies, master in Procedural Law from UFES, Executive MBA from Dom Cabral Foundation, doctoral candidate in Commercial Law from PUC/SP, and has held board positions and presidency of Líderes before.
The event started with Helio's speech, giving a brief exposition about Corporate Governance and Councils, their structures and systems, giving an introduction to the lecture. After that, Claudia presented a little of her life story, where she has been until she reached the Board of 5 large companies, and also about the important role of governance in companies.
During the chat part, the members could ask questions or expose their curiosities in relation to the speakers and their experiences, which were always answered in a very transparent way. The speakers were able to expose their opinions, criticisms, methodologies, suggestions, and advice, making the evening's learning even more enriching, thus making this an excellent event!
