Yesterday, September 26th, the Book Study "The Bitcoin Standard: The Decentralized Alternative to Central Banking", written by Saifedean Ammous, took place. The leader of the event was Associate III, Nelson Duarte, and the presenters were Andre Paris, Associate I; Gabriel Salvatti, Associate II; and Rodrigo Bachour, Associate I.

Nelson began the study with his brief introducing the book: "30 years after Hayek proposed the decentralization of money, Satoshi Nakamoto (pseudonym), announced the creation of a decentralized virtual currency called Bitcoin, which, among several features, highlights the lack of need for a bank or any financial institution to move it, working through a 'peer-to-peer' system."

After the introduction, the group started the presentation about the book, exploring the discussions they had with experts on the subject, such as Alexandre Ludolf and Victor Stabile. In addition, they had the participation of Thiago Rizzo, an Alumni Associate of the Institute, to bring his vision on Bitcoin and assist the associates' doubts on the subject.

In addition to presenting the theory, the group also brought a bit of practice about investing in bitcoin and the precautions that must be taken, bringing a more aggregating content for the associates, in which at the end they could clear up their doubts about the topic or about investing or not in cryptocurrencies.
