This week's Simulated Jury had as its theme immigration between countries: on the one hand in favor of free immigration and on the other the restriction between them

On September 13th, the fourth Simulated Jury of Líderes do Amanhã took place in 2021, with the question "Are you in favor of freedom of immigration?"

Previously chosen by the Committee, the theme is intended to promote reflection among members about the free movement of human beings between territories, across the imaginary political lines of the borders of countries.

One of the arguments brought by the group in favor, formed by Amanda Furtado, Magno Martins and Pedro Henrique Negreiros, was that the individual needs to be free to work, prosper, or assume the consequences of the path he has chosen anywhere. The against group, formed by Evandro Correia, João Pedro Pires and Yuri Fernandes, highlighted that free immigration does not mean free market, and that free circulation without restrictions can bring interventionist and regulatory consequences for the country in question.

Associate II and event leader, Paula Magioni, questioned in her briefing: “Cultural and political differences weigh on this issue. Many countries, rich or poor, fear that culture, identity, religion or security will end up at risk – and even lost – with the arrival of foreigners en masse.”

Of the 9 participating judges, 3 voted in favor and 6 against, this being the winning group of the event!
